Has your GPS gone a bit wonky? Don’t worry, that’s just a rogue state triggering a couple of nukes. (It’s more likely bad signal though…). From DNews Earth writer Larry O’Hanlon:

GPS Tracks Secret Nuke Tests: New research into GPS disturbances high up in Earth’s ionosphere reveals that sometimes the “noise” in the GPS signals are secret underground nuclear tests. Not only that, but tests with archived GPS data not only detect the nukes, but can be used to track the ionospheric noise back to its source.

After flying to an altitude of 39,045 meters (128,100 feet) in a helium-filled balloon, Felix Baumgartner completed a record breaking jump for the ages from the edge of space, exactly 65 years after Chuck Yeager first broke the sound barrier flying in an experimental rocket-powered airplane. Felix reached a maximum of speed of 1,342.8 km/h (833mph) through the near vacuum of the stratosphere before being slowed by the atmosphere later during his 4:20 minute long freefall. The 43-year-old Austrian skydiving expert also broke two other world records (highest freefall, highest manned balloon flight), leaving the one for the longest freefall to project mentor Col. Joe Kittinger.

Amazing technology would allow for underground parks in NYC

If you’ve been to Manhattan in the past several years, you may have heard of the Highline in Chelsea. It’s a project that converted an abandoned above-ground railroad track into a park, and it has turned the formerly underdeveloped area around it into one of the trendiest new neighborhoods in the city; if you visit Manhattan, you have to check it out. Anyway, two architects want to build a park that will do for the Lower East Side what the Highline did for Chelsea, but with a twist: they want to build it underground!

If you’ve been to Manhattan ever, you’ll also know that space is at a premium, and there are few open spaces left to grow leafy green things or build a park. Dubbed the LowLine, the project would convert an old underground trolley car station, abandoned in 1948 and untouched since, into a 1.5 acre underground park. But how? This is where the science comes in: they’ve developed the technology to transmit sunlight underground. Using large parabolic mirrors and a fiber optic relay, sunlight from the surface would be shuttled to the park and then redisbursed, allegedly yielding enough light for photosynthesis. As shown in the artist’s renderings above, the park could house trees, grass, farmers markets, or art installations, all year round, rain or shine. The architects raised money on Kickstarter for a proof-of-concept exhibition, happening RIGHT NOW in the Essex Street Market in NYC, and they’re doing battle with the city and the transit authority that owns the underground depot for approval. Here’s to hoping the city bureaucrats see the light! *slaps knee*

On May 23, 2011, a beautiful 15 year old girl by the name of Alexandria “Ali” Nixon, committed suicide due to bullying, and other problems in her life. She made an impact on so many people - students at the school she attended Winnisquam Regional High School, were devastated. The students asked for an assembly to be held - but were rejected, and instead given a moment of silence.

It’s now Septemeber 27, 2012 and the making of the school Yearbook is in order. Normally, a student’s death is recognized and a page is given to them in memory of their life. Not this time.

A best friend of Ali’s, Dad, gave the school 300 dollars to give Ali Nixon a page - and they gave the money back. On top of that, they told the students that no one could write about her in their senior write up.

A group of students started a petition - in four periods they got 150 students to sign it, even some teachers. But when they brought it to the Yearbook teacher’s attention, he shredded it up right in front of them. While stating something along the lines of, “It’ll turn into ‘Who wasn’t friends with her’ and ‘Who didn’t sleep with her.’” Which left them outraged and disgusted.

They’ve gone to the principals, and they overlooked them as well so it’s time to take a bigger step.

We aren’t remembering how she died, we’re simply remembering her life. In 2010, there was a page donated to a student who passed away. The deaths were different, but the reason why she had a page was not. To remember her.

Please sign this petition - it would mean so much to everyone. What this school is doing is wrong, and they need to be stopped.
